Coca Compost Stimulates Plant Growth

Bolivia is using coca, the plant processed to make cocaine, to fertilize agricultural products, perhaps even fruits and vegetables. But think about the repercussions of such a policy. Aren't they concerned about the crack baby carrots that will result from such a plan?

Pedestrian killed on La Porte Road

  • Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier Article

"Police said Hargan was westbound on La Porte Road and Gramlich was walking in the roadway wearing dark clothing and was not was seen by Hargan."

Sadly, I was just talking about the dangers of jay walking in my Crime Analysis class.  My prayers go out to both families.

Red light traffic cameras have cities like Cedar Rapids seeing green

This may be a better money maker than the lottery. Once they require active GPS tracking technology in every registered automobile, the government would be able to fine the vehicle's owner every time the vehicle went over the posted speed limit. I'm not in favor of this, I'm just prophesying its coming. What are your thoughts?

Chicago Police Incorporate Street Level Video Surveillance

As the article indicates, Chicago recently received a $6 million grant to set up camera's at various public places within the city. 911 dispatchers can now receive emergency calls from citizens and link the caller's verbal information with live visual footage. This technology has already been used to catch a suspected thief.

Is this an example of smart policing or Big Brother control?
